Definitely kids should pick the subjects they want to focus on, at the same time, there are also some subjects that are required like grammar/writing/reading comprehension (you need to know how to properly communicate with others so they understand what you mean), history/civics (those who don't know their history & how their government works, are doomed to repeat past mistakes), math/budgets (math is so important, even a basic understanding is good, and how to properly budget yourself and your finances is also key), cooking/gardening (you ought to know basically how to feed yourself & others). home economics (you ought to know how to keep yourself & home well cared for), and basic science/biology/geology/physics (you need a basic understanding of the world around you and how it all works together)... if those subjects are covered, and even how to cover those subjects allowing the child to focus on what they are interested in at any given time allows them to absorb more knowledge

He has to pick the subjects that are easy for him in order to get good marks.
This is the beginning of selecting easy things in life and this is how most people take their life, easy, life, lite life, not much challenges, a route to poverty!!!
It is like that thou I don't support it at all!!!
One should learn to attack what is difficult, which others fear. That is where success is hidden.

Better there because you're given opportunity to explore where you fit but not forcing me or a student to some he or she is not capable of handling.
