One time, I met a person who was using sign language and she was trying to tell me that she had lost her dear one. I did not understand and I started laughing! Can you imagine the confusion?

Yes non verbal communication is easily mis understood unlike to written communication which is very clear. Because non verbal communication might be wrong it depends how a person heard or perceived it.
