The Bagishu people of Uganda are found in the north east of Uganda.
That is where mountain Elgon is found. Their main town is Mbale.
They used to depend on agriculture, producing robust coffee but these days changed to maize,beans,matoke,sugarcanes.
They are also known in the kadodi dancing every even year.
They also enjoy bamboo vegetables, the maleewa.

The Bagisu hail from Eastern Uganda and very much known for their circumcision's practices called imbalu which they practice during even years ,but because of the corona pandemic their religious practice has been hindered .

They are people who normally practice circumcision as thier ritual traditional & done to all male human at a certain age & IT'S an abomination for any not to get circumcised.

The Basigu are a tribe in the Eastern part of Uganda along the slopes of Mount Elgon. The are mainly located in Mbale district but can as well be in Kamuli, among other eastern districts

Bagisu is the only tribe in Uganda which perform rituals of circumsis of male in their adult stage .it is so amazing such that they perform it in public when alot of people are gathered.

The Bagisu people are a tribe living in the Eastern part of Uganda. Sometimes they are referred to as Bamasaba. They actually on the slopes of Mount Elgon. Some of their families dwelling on the mountain have continuously suffered from frequent landslides during the rains. Here the government operating through the ministry of epidemics and natural disasters has to intervene. The Bagisu of Uganda have a very strong traditional culture known as embalu. This is when every young man has to undergo traditional circumcision a transition that makes him a real man. During the season they perform a rhythmic dance popular called the akadodi. The Bagisu are friendly and bright people. Mbale is their beautiful town soon growing into a city.

As a Ugandan, I know the Bagisu as a tribe in Eastern uganda, well known for its tradition of celebrating circumcision of men, a ceremony called embalu.

I always hear that in Uganda there are bagisu people but in reality I don't know them. But in Uganda there are many tribes which is hard to distinguish tribes of Uganda if you have not been living in Uganda.
